well im not sure if a car/truck rental place needs people to do that but i know moving companies like Uhaul if its one-way then where ever the person drops the truck or trailer off at a Uhaul place then thats where it stays until someone else needs it, when i helped a friend move from the country to in town we needed a trailer for the day and just kept it over night and turned it in the next day at the same place we got it, well the license plate on the trailer was a New York plate so im not sire if they’d just keep the rental car/truck there out of state or what, im not sure

I live in the south and I have never heard of this but what they do is offer their customers who are renting vehicles great deals on one-way rentals to all over and save a lot for the customers and the companies..

If you do it right, you wont need a discount code. You can rent from any place, such as Budget or U-haul but you have to go to non-corporate stores. An example of this is a place that rents U-hauls and also works on cars. When my business has overflow, I have a U-haul that I go to and they beat any quote that I can get from any other rental car place. Have these sales guys work for you because they want the extra business and non-corporate stores have a lot more ways to get around the system and save you tons of money in the process.

A fair warning: Stay away from U-Haul. If you experience ANY problems with your relocation, they will charge your credit card without authorization. For example, say you get delayed by one day for whatever reason. Most companies would just charge you an extra day. U-Haul will charge you the extra day PLUS $500 for breaching the contract. What’s more is depending on the branch they may even attempt to report the vehicle stolen to the police department.

I recommend using Penske http://www.gopenske.com/ for your move. Better equipment, better company, and excellent customer service. And they won’t charge you $500 without your permission if you end up running a day behind.

For the pick-up date I used June 25 2010. All prices are from Detroit to Dallas. PRICE DOESN’T INCLUDE TAX, FEES, INSURANCE OR CAR CARRIER.
For price of car carrier contact the location you would rent from or look it up online. I didn’t know what kind of car you had.

Budget
Includes up to 5 days and unlimited miles
16′= 1394.10

U-haul
Includes up to 6 days of use and 1437 miles.
14′= $1,555.00 17′= $1,620.00

Penske
Includes up to 6 days and unlimited miles
16′= 1481.00

The Uhaul Trucks are always easy to load and have more locations for pick up and drop off. They are low to the ground so it’s easier to tow your vehicle. I wouldn’t hesitate checking online or even giving them a call, they are a really friendly company. They never do follow up calls like other rental companies seem to do when getting a quote. I know that Uhaul does some discounts but you’d have to ask the agent on the phone, they are happy to check for you, I know Military and AAA members get discounts for sure.

check with Hertz. i know they rent pick ups, and I am pretty sure they will let you put a ball on the bumper to haul trailers. As long as you are not needing a 5th wheel hitch, I think you are okay. good luck
